I find that this movie is hard to describe, I’m not sure what to write. It was not what I expected based on the Netflix summary, or what my boyfriend told me about it. I did enjoy it though. The basic summary is that a town has to be evacuated in order for them to build a dam and flood the place and there’s a boy who’s too sick to move. The story kind of flips between the people who are in charge of getting everyone out and the sick boy. But there’s so much more than that.
It weaves an almost fantastical element into the story which otherwise would have been very simple and straightforward. The best way I can describe it is just as different. It’s not action packed or very fast paced even, but it tells a good story without extraneous scenes or dialogue. There’s no action for the sake of action. It’s a well told story and it doesn’t need any extra embellishments.
I’m glad I decided to watch this movie.
